Here are some factors to consider before you decide to purchase a blade server chassis:

Determine power demand

Consult with suppliers and equipment personnel or electricians to determine what power supplies and power connector types you need to support multiple blade server centers. Many blade server vendors' websites provide power calculators and other tools to help identify possible power savings.

Project growth plan and capacity requirements. Review your growth plan and requirements for server performance, storage, storage, and i/o (input/output port) performance, network bandwidth, and connectivity. How does a blade server center implement these plans? What options do you have to enhance your blade server group for better processing power, i/o performance, and storage performance? Please remember that the number and size of blade servers in the central chassis of a blade server will vary depending on the supplier and brand.

Identify issues of interoperability and network connectivity

If you want to achieve interoperability with existing storage and network technologies, what kind of compatibility and i/o and network connectivity do you need? Study a specific blade center to see if it can provide enough storage and network connectivity to meet the requirements of the active and efficient operating environment of all server blades. If you combine blade server with server virtualization, you should focus on the overall storage and network i/o requirements.

Interoperability between query server and storage area network

Negotiate with the supplier on the interoperability and prerequisites of diskless servers or matters related to importing servers into storage area networks. Server blades, like traditional shelf-stacked servers, provide a variety of choices, including the number and type of processor cores, the number of storage, different types, capacities, and numbers of disk drives, and i/o connectivity options. For example, some blade servers support mezzanine cards, which can be attached with additional PCI, PCI-X, or PCIe adapters such as Ethernet, fiber channel, or Infiniband.
